Are you guilty of making these common SEO blunders?

Mistakes are part of our everyday life. They say, your last mistake is your biggest teacher, and that’s true! But guys, not all mistakes are treated equally. Some mistakes tend to stand out more than others, while there is one common mistake most of the newbies make. And if you trust me, this one mistake has the capability to haunt you forever. Wanna know which one it is?

Screwing up your website in terms of SEO!

Trust me when I say this guy, there is nothing worse than hearing that your website’s SEO strategy is actually hurting your business. With more than seven years of experience in SEO, I can assure you that if you are doing it wrong, there is no way you can plan to nourish your business.

Are you guilty of making these common SEO blunders

If you are also somehow using an SEO strategy that is degrading your business, it is high time to take some actions. In this article, I am going to share with you some common SEO blunders most of the newbies are guilty of making. If you are one of those, you need to stop right now.

Mistake #1: Selecting wrong keywords

Search engine optimization is all about getting the keywords to rank the website for. But hey, just asking, are your keywords the “RIGHT” keywords?

Well, for most of the people, they don’t give it much thought. The biggest mistake is to avoid the audience’s preference and long tail keywords. Yes, you have all the authority to define your services or products your way, but you must not forget the terms your potential customers might use to find them. So before you finalize any, a thorough background research is essential. Use tools like Google Keyword Planner, SEMrush, keyword planner, etc.

Mistake #2: Your content lacks quality

Guys, content is king! I know I have said this before, but there is no better way to say this.

But hey, does that mean any kind of content will help you rule the SEO world? Absolutely not! Only the content that is high-quality can do wonders, now what do I mean by high quality, you ask! Well, a high-quality content is the one that offers answers to the questions your audience is asking. Here some of the most common mistakes are:

  • Scraped content: Basically copy and paste things. Guys, if you are trusting those cheap SEO agencies to provide quality content, you are making the same mistake. Don’t even dare to copy someone else’s work.
  • Thin content: Equally useless as the above one. A content that offers no value can again make your visitors bounce back. Why would they bother to stay back if you are not providing them any reason to do so.

Dear friends, content is the most important investment you have to make, and you must not hesitate in it.

Mistake #3: Not investing in a mobile friendly website

In 2015, the mobile keywords were introduced by Google. This also indicated a new era of the search algorithm, that is primarily focused on mobile-friendly websites. Well, now mobile friendly websites are indexed first. More than 91% mobile users expect easy access to the website and this is clear to Google and to the SEO marketers.

Mistake #4: Using low quality or copied images

Visuals! The www of today is ruled by attractive images, be it social media, your website or even a magazine. But the biggest mistake we all are guilty of making are using images that are copyrighted. It not only degrades your brand image but the real owner can also use your company for a legal action.

Now many of us might not be aware of the designing part, but tools like Canva is a boon for all digital marketers. Be it your blog graphics or your website logo or your social media profile images, Canva does it all. Canva handles all your designing needs so that you can focus on other important things.

Mistake #5: Ignoring the power of social media

While you are at search engine optimization, don’t forget social media factor as well. So now that you have created your profile on the major social media networks around you, your aim is to get the attention of your potential customers. Do you know social media signals also play a huge role in improving search engine rankings?

Though many of the people create social media profiles, not all of them are active on it. Create high-quality images, share them on right timings, interact with your followers. And you are good to go!

So dear SEO marketers, SEO is actually not that difficult. Just do what you actually feel is right and avoid these mistakes. Yes, results may take a while but at the end, it will be worth it.

  1. The quality one trips up bloggers Prince. They get details down cold, then publish a crap post LOL. Focus first on quality. I ranked for 2 stupid competitive keywords but paid little attention to details. I did however write kick butt articles, drawing in Google. Fab post bro.

  2. Hi Prince,

Great post, especially since I am starting to pay more attention to SEO. When I first started my blog, I wrote a bunch of blog posts on keywords that are so competitive, I don’t even rank in the top 100.

Many bloggers overlook the importance of choosing low competition keywords that they can actually rank for.

If you want organic traffic, you need to take the time to do your keyword research. Just don’t make the mistake of keyword stuffing otherwise that will get you in trouble.

Great tips for anyone who is looking to improve their traffic from Google.

Thanks for sharing, have a great day 🙂

  3. Hi, Prince Kapoor.
I believe nearly all the websites built on WordPress platform are mobile friendly because all the WordPress themes whether free or premium are mobile friendly these days.
Maybe websites built on other platforms need to put more attention to this point.
