Check Out The 9 Time-Wasting Activities Of Blogger!

Blogging is an activity which requires complete time, energy, and passion. If you are a passionate amateur blogger then you might need to focus properly rather than wasting time on activities, which makes your work suffer.

Check Out The 9 Time-Wasting Activities Of Blogger

There are certain things that you, as a blogger do, intentionally or unintentionally, that suffers your work and you waste your time to the fullest. If you are engaging yourself in the given list of activities then I would suggest you, to stop right there and create a checklist of how many things you are actually wasting your time on right now.

  1. Blog Design

Okay, it is a fact that readers pay attention to a well-designed blog. But have you ever realized how much time you have killed for getting the desired design? It is important but, at a beginner’s level, you might want to focus on the quality of the content that will bring in more traffic along with future suggestions.

The professional looking blog does help in the brand building but it is considered a total time waste at the beginner’s level.

  1. Social Media Addiction

These days’ social media is a greater source of leading traffic on beginner’s blog and everyone is addicted to social media these days. But, you have a responsibility and passion for working on – your blog.

You are doing it right if you are promoting your work or interacting with your readers on different social platforms. But, instead of doing productive work, you are chatting with your friends or liking and commenting on posts, then you are wasting your time.

It is advisable to schedule some time to stay active on social media and stay more active on creating quality content.

  1. Surfing Too Much

When you are looking for something interesting for your blog, it is fine. But in majority cases, a lot of time is wasted in surfing because it is fun and easy to go overboard. Set a time limit and focus while surfing so that you can save a little time for yourself.

  1. Checking Emails Often

People do have a phobia for keeping their inbox read and clean but this doesn’t apply on a blogger. You are completely wasting your time if you are checking your emails often. Keep a specific time to check your emails so that your productivity does not affect.

  1. Checking Blog Stats

You feel enthusiastic and happy when you post a blog. Make sense. But why do you visit Google Analytics of CMS statistics every hour to see the number of visitors? It actually not your fault, it is a common habit of every blogger but it is a very time-wasting habit.

If you have recently created a blog, it will take the time to build readership and get the desired analytics. Forget about your stats for at least a month or so and concentrate on making it better with the quality content.

  1. Skype Or Facetime Addiction

Blogging is a serious business which needs your 100% attention most of the time. If you are addicted to Skype or FaceTime, then you are wasting your precious time. I am not telling you to completely get rid of this habit, but you might want to take out time for this when you are free. You are only allowed to take Skype calls from your clients or work-related issues.

  1. Shadowing Blogs

Bloggers do observe other blogs for references, which is known as Shadowing. This is a good thing to do but with a side effect. You create a habit of reading blogs and you forget that you have a blog and a responsibility for managing it. Read other blogs or articles when you have free time or else it’s of no use.

  1. To Search For A Perfect Image

To look for that one perfect image for a blog you waste hours and hours.  We don’t get what we want most of the time. No point in looking too deep for an image. Either use a relevant picture or if you are working for a client and you found a reference image, ask for the client for help or ditch the idea.

  1. Watching TV Or Listening To Music

You might be a very good multitasker but during your productivity hours, you only need to keep your focus on the work rather than watching TV or listening to music. Keep a time for the recreational activities and you will be just fine.

To eliminate all the time-wasting activities, scheduling your routine is the key. There are plenty of time-wasting habits that different individuals have but they also know how to keep everything straight. The things that will take you towards success are the things which will take you back in terms of time. If you have any of the aforementioned habits, then you still have time to overcome them.

  1. Hi Ishika,

Thanks for sharing these time wasters with us. I so agree with you, it’s easy to get caught up in these time wasters and feel like you’re being productive, but you actually aren’t.

I’ve been guilty of some of these time wasters, like checking my social media so often. I’ve now turned off notifications whenever I am working on my blog. I focus on the task at hand and then I’ll check my notifications after I am done working on the tasks that need to be done.

There’s still a lot I can do to be more productive, but since I’ve started doing this, I am actually getting those important things done.

I’ve also found it helpful to do those important tasks done as soon as I get in front of my computer. If I do those must do tasks done first, then at least I’ve gotten them done and I accomplished what needed to be done first.

Thanks for sharing these tips with us, I know that they will help so many bloggers become more productive.

    Have a great day 🙂

    Susan
